Seeking suggestions from the community.
My desktop isn't compatible with Windows 11. The Microsoft checker returned:
TPM 2.0 needs support and activation:
TPM not detected
The processor isn't supported for Windows 11:
Processor: intel Core i5-4690K CPU @ 3.5GHz
My motherboard is:
GigaByte: GA-Z97X-UD3H
I don’t play games, edit videos, or work with audio.
I’m not interested in AI hosting.
I’m an older person and prefer simpler systems.
I began working on mainframes in the 70s, so I understand how technology changes over time.
What advice would you give me about upgrading my hardware?
Thanks.

Flyoobe suggests using Flyoobe or installing Linux Mint, like many tutorials available on YouTube.

if you are happy with your current setup and it does what you need it to do
than you don´t have to spend money on new hardware .
i currently have secondary system running windows 11 with
4690K and Z97 mobo .
there is a workaround tpm 2.0 requirement .
(create windows 11 installation flash drive using rufus and uncheck tpm requirement)

It's similar on the internet: too many chefs in the kitchen. Windows conflicts with some of my core computing principles, so I left it years ago. Linux is free and functions well on nearly any hardware. The lack of government spyware is just a nice bonus. My Linux laptops are almost ten years old, and I don’t see any need to upgrade anytime soon.

there isn't any improvement from that. a new system is needed. or as another person suggested, consider using Linux.

A ready-made mini PC is the best option. You might cut costs by using an upgradeable retail Windows 10 version, allowing you to purchase a basic model and then install your own RAM and SSD.

This isn't a good suggestion. For
@22547mike, look up Beelink on Amazon to see what choices are available in this case. Based on what you mentioned, one of these options would be sufficient to get you onto modern hardware at a low cost while satisfying your requirements.

Are there any aspects of W11 you wish to see? If not, continue using W10.
For items on the PC worth noting, ensure an external backup is in place.

Once I stepped out of the mainframe era, I found myself in MS-DOS during the 80s. After that, I moved to Windows 95 and have remained a fan of Bill Gates ever since. I feel pretty at ease with this path.

I looked at that unit and noticed it has two HDMI ports, which would be helpful because I have two monitors. What do you think?
