It does improve slightly in speed and offers better value, though it runs a bit slower. The main upgrade option with your current board is the 5800X3D. By then, you might find it hard to get one, making it rare and costly since it's an older CPU. Choosing the 12400 would let you upgrade to something like the 13600K in the near future, which is faster and newer, so it remains affordable for now.
