Upgrade your CPU, motherboard and RAM.
Hi, I'm upgrading my old 8-year-old PC built for an A10-7850k and an outdated ASUS board. I recently got a solid graphics card just before prices rose, and now I'm thinking about improving the motherboard, CPU, and RAM. I found an AMD Ryzen 5 5600x, an MSI B550 Pro board, and 16GB of Corsair Vengeance LPX RAM online. I'm hoping this community can give me advice on whether it's a good move, especially since I'm on a budget.
Hardware plans: reusing GPU and PSU mainly; budget approved. The 5600x/B550 setup works well. RAM options are 3200 or 3600 MHz.
What card are you using? Also, what PSU do you have? Consider replacing your 12400F and H670 motherboard with something similar in performance but a bit more affordable. Don’t worry too much about the RAM brand—just pick the cheapest option regardless of the manufacturer as long as it matches the speeds.
3600CL18 isn't a bad choice after all, though slower latencies are preferable. Still, CL18 remains acceptable if the price is reasonable.
