After considering all the conditions and precautions (such as updating the BIOS and backing up data), would anyone suggest upgrading the CPU? I’m also curious if a new motherboard would be necessary. Specifically for MATX B450 motherboards, which often lack BIOS Flashback support and may come with older versions, should I expect to need a replacement card?

Consider your reasons once more—what makes an upgrade necessary? When will the next one be required? Even a couple of generations ahead wouldn’t make sense compared to most mid-range options, no matter the motherboard support.

I wouldn't either. The improvement isn't substantial. To be honest, even the fourth generation might not justify the upgrade. It's wiser to invest in a better graphics card.

Initially we aren't sure what you required it for. To identify a bottleneck, you can launch the task manager while you work and observe if GPU, CPU, or ROM is limiting your performance. I used an i7 4970k and about 90% of the time, my GPU was the issue (along with RAM). My assumption is that you're feeling itchy and thinking about investing more money.
