Upgrade your CPU for 200 to 230 EUR
After five years, it's finally the right moment to replace my CPU (I5 6600). I'm based in Europe and mainly use my PC for coding, video editing, and occasionally gaming (CS:GO, GTA V, Forza Horizon 4). I'm open to spending between 200-230 EUR for a motherboard. Locally I have these choices but I'm unsure which one fits best.
Options:
1. Ryzen 5 3600 – 205 EUR
2. i5 10600KF – 205 EUR
3. i7 9700KF – 217 EUR
Yeah, not too much difference between 3600 and 10600KF https://www.techspot.com/review/2031-int...i5-10600k/ Matter of preference. 3600 for rendering and other similar tasks, but 10600KF is a bit faster in games.
You receive only the CPU with that budget, but you also need a good motherboard. For editing, consider the Ryzen—it offers better multicore performance, and you won’t have to spend extra money on a solid motherboard. Both Intel requires a compatible motherboard to reach its full capabilities.
I’d choose the R5 3600 because it offers better value. The platform will be more affordable and you retain the flexibility to upgrade later. The 10600KF works too, provided you have a Z590 board. Those options are still quite reasonable compared to the b450 when using Ryzen.
Absolutely correct, Intel motherboards tend to be pricier when you're looking to overclock. I'd go for the 10700F if it's available. It's more expensive but offers eight cores and works well with budget options. Overclocking has become somewhat unpredictable lately.
Which European nation are you currently in? We can find the 3600 used for 150 and a new motherboard for at least 50 euros. If my budget allowed, I’d choose an i5 11400 paired with a motherboard. An i7 with a motherboard would exceed your limit. The Ryzen 3600 works best with a basic motherboard like B450 or B550.
At these rates I’d choose the 9700KF or 10600KF models. The 3600 performs worse than both for most applications.
