Hello everyone, I have a few queries about upgrading my motherboard and CPU. Right now I'm using a fairly affordable Gigabyte 150 M.2 with an Intel i7-6700 and a GTX 1070. I'm streaming at 1440p and notice that while the GPU stays busy most of the time, my CPU can spike to full capacity sometimes, causing FPS drops. I’m thinking about not upgrading the GPU until next generation and wondering: 1) Is a Ryzen 5 3600 a solid choice for the coming years? Or should I save more for the 3700X? 2) Would getting a B450 board be a bad move? I haven’t tried any high-end features before and wasn’t really interested, just asking from a future perspective. Could I expect any consistent issues with running a next-gen GPU on a B450 board? Thanks in advance!
1. If you're only playing games and don't need rendering or CAD work, the Ryzen 5 3600 is sufficient. For rendering tasks, consider the Ryzen 7 3700X.
2. Your B450 motherboard works for the latest Ryzen models, but check the website for the "RYZEN 3000" label.
You won't encounter next-generation GPUs, yet you're facing issues with the "new" PCI Express 4 connection. However, this shouldn't be a major concern since your GPU will function and recognize the PCI Express version you're using. PCI Express 3 should work perfectly with new GPUs.
