Right now, at around 3600 FPS, I’m starting to see drops to about 20 frames per second on older Intel CPUs like the 8600 or similar models with higher clock speeds. Those usually stay above 40 FPS.
The 8600 doesn't outperform the 3600 in single-core speed, which could explain the difference. It might be due to an older game version or hardware differences. Check if AMD PBO is enabled in the BIOS and ensure your temperatures are within normal ranges.
Are you really needing a new CPU? I checked the game on Google and it looks like it isn’t that demanding. Some users claim they run it on older Phenom II boards. The requirements mention a 2 Duo core and a Radeon R7 240. I’m asking since it’s easy to get caught up in excitement and marketing, and you could end up spending a lot without any real benefit.
I talked with players who played the game like me about PBO. I think my processor wasn’t stable on version 4.2, so I probably switched to 4.0 or something, but it keeps jumping between 3.8, 3.9, and 4.1. I’m not sure if PBO is forgetting that. Also, temperatures often exceed 65°C during the game.
oh yeah it can be run, but worse cpu gets worse performance in it, one guy had some fancy intel cpu (like one of those 800eur cost or smth) and had much much more stable fps than me. average fps were more or less same but stability of 1% was much higher.
