Upgrade with a soldered M.2 slot for the HP Victus Gaming Laptop 15.6
Hey there! Just started this project and bought a decent HP Victus laptop (15.6GB RAM, SSD2). I checked for an upgrade but found empty SSD2 traces labeled as SSD2. I’m curious if anyone knows how to verify the connections or solder a second SSD slot. The laptop is new and I haven’t looked up the schematics much yet. The model code is 15-fb0039ne. A screenshot from a YouTube video helps, but the numbers don’t match exactly. Any suggestions would be great!
To verify proper wiring without soldering, check the board layout for correct trace connections. Look for labeled pads and ensure traces match schematic diagrams. No slot soldering indicates correct placement.
I recommend checking the adjacent area and comparing it with the SSD slot you currently use, which already has M2 pads pre-installed. Observe the colored traces from each M2 connection, noting the ones emerging from the copper or metal contacts. Based on what you see, it seems likely it was wired according to the circuit design. From an electrical standpoint, it makes sense that it should have been connected. I notice there are two unused traces—probably meant for future use, but the manufacturer didn<|pad|> to not specify their function. I also own a Victus model with an M2 pad that looks similar, though it’s not installed. If this seems unclear or odd, I apologize, but I’m doing my best to clarify.
