I need to transform around 10 PCs into Windows 10 from Windows 7. I prefer each machine to begin its own upgrade process so it can download the Windows 10 file independently. However, once you launch the MediaTool and start the upgrade, it pulls the huge file instantly and demands immediate installation. There’s no delay option. Can I stop it and resume from the folder it left behind, or will it erase everything and force a fresh download? There must be a workaround. The USB/disc option seems meant for brand new installs, not upgrades. Even if it worked, I’d rather avoid using a USB drive for each PC when the file is already available on every one waiting to be installed later.
I recommend using a USB flash drive with more than 4GB of storage (a fast one helps keep things running smoothly). Utilize Microsoft Windows Media Creation Tool to obtain the newest Windows 10 version and prepare your USB (it will be formatted). Insert the tool, follow the setup wizard, and install Windows 10 on it. After installation, verify that all updates are installed—this ensures you receive the latest system patches and security fixes. Make sure your drivers and software, especially security programs, are up to date before beginning the upgrade process. Running through Windows Update will scan for problems, but this approach is more direct than a standard update check.
