In most YouTube videos, you need to install Windows Vista before getting Windows 7. However, some suggest downloading Windows 7 directly without Vista first.

You can always access the latest update directly, but you'll need a new key. Only Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 support keys that work with newer versions (Windows 10). Upgrading means you might get the new version at a lower price and install it on top of your existing OS. This path isn't viable since Windows Vista is no longer supported and official sales for Windows 7 ended years ago. The only way to obtain a functional Windows Vista (not advised) or Windows 7 is to purchase an OEM disc with a key from gray markets. This option includes an installation DVD and key, or you can request the key yourself to create your own install DVD/USB. After the trial period ends, the OS will become much more restrictive than current Windows trials.

You can definitely do that. Replacing the old hard drive with a new SSD and installing Windows 10 on it is a common approach. It can significantly improve performance.

You'll still require the key. This section remains the same. You're only paying a bit more for an SSD. You can choose to format HDD and install any operating system you prefer—Linux, Windows, etc.

The issue is just a few euros, it's not a big deal. Thanks!
