The issue involves a lengthy story I wanted media center on my PC. I searched online and found a YouTube person who mentioned pressing a code in Windows settings. I followed their instructions and got media center, but my Windows version switched to PRO and it wasn’t activated. I then used Microsoft Toolkit Auto KMS to activate it, since I didn’t have a recovery point and didn’t know how to fix this. I currently have a genuine Windows 8 DVD license, but I’m using an unofficial 8 Pro version for media center. I tried a PC refresh, but it didn’t help. Someone, could you assist me?

Restart from your DVD and return to 8.1 core. There are no-cost options for Windows Media Centre.

You can perform a factory reset via the Windows Recovery Environment, but activation may not work afterward.

You might consider getting it from the DVD, but unless you own an EFI PC or made a recovery drive, you'll need the disc.

If you possess a real key, you may need to contact Microsoft to enable it.
