Hello everyone, I own a satellite C55-a with a Pentium 2020m processor. I upgraded my RAM from 4GB to 8GB, but I’m wondering if the G2 socket and the motherboard can accommodate an upgrade to an i3 or i5 CPU. I’ll check the motherboard details, though—I’m not entirely sure of the exact model since it only lists Portable PC MP under Toshiba branding.

Does this suggest it’s likely or can I rely on a CPU shown in the link? I’m certain it’s the Pentium 2020m since CPU-Z confirms it. Updated April 6, 2020 by Gabriel16

The temperatures during heavy use with the Pentium are typically moderate. If they stay low, switching to an i5 or i7 would be feasible. Many laptops use the same cooling solution for all CPU models, while others have separate coolers for different processors.

You can check the temperature using standard devices like thermometers or digital sensors. It's common for everyday settings, so it fits normal use.

You might want to track CPU temperature with tools like HWMonitor or RealTemp, then run a benchmark or stress test to push the CPU to its limits.

It's about 65 to 72 degrees, and I discovered a choice for the i5 3210m that works at 105 degrees.

Check if it works with your system and compare features.
