Upgrade to RAM triggering delays or stuttering issues.
I recently upgraded my system by adding another 16GB of RAM, switching from dual to quad channel at 3200Mhz Corsair Vengeance. Previously, I experienced smooth frame rates in most games, but now I notice noticeable stutters that are frustrating. The new setup seems similar in timing and size to the previous one, so I thought it would work fine. However, being new to gaming, I’m hoping someone with more experience can offer guidance.
Do you understand which companies produce the DRAM modules? CPU-Z shows them under the SPD section as [DRAM Manuf.]. They might come from Samsung, Micron (Crucial), or SK Hynix, which are the leading options. Occasionally, RAM makers switch suppliers for these chips within the same package over time. The system remains technically dual channel, since most consumer motherboards and CPUs support dual channels. HEDT and server equipment can offer quad-channel memory support.
Consider resetting the CMOS to ensure proper settings. Then proceed with using DDU and reinstalling the graphics drivers to determine if the problem lies with the drivers.
I didn’t really consider resetting everything or changing all the settings. I’ll just check the method for clearing CMOS and give it a try.
