I mean, a Pentium 4 can handle 4K. The main thing is how long you're willing to wait. Retro gaming? A box cutter? Cutting through it and turning it into a keychain? Polishing the edges and using it as a weapon? Honestly, I own a 1080p HTPC running an E8500. A $200 CPU that lasts 14 years is a solid choice. It's also a CPU that's 14 years old—about a billion years in chicken years. Most chickens are killed at six weeks, which means each year brings about 8.66 generations of chickens. If you count it all, a chicken born today would trace back 120 direct ancestor lines since the C2D was introduced. I believe you're getting good value. Time to upgrade to a CPU built for use in editing around 2020.

As skillz mentioned, it can also work well in Discord chats and other minor tasks. However, if your dad decides to buy you a PC with components priced similarly to the 3900, you’d have a purpose for it.

I've learned it's relatively simple to build a media server from an older PC using VLC or similar tools. It's not just for playing Spotify, but for streaming movies through your home network or across the house. This setup won't require high speed or a powerful graphics card to function well. No matter your choice, good luck!
