Find the appropriate older Wine distribution for your Ubuntu version and download it. Install it manually instead of updating to the newest release.

You can use apt to set the package version by adding an '=' after the package name, such as "apache2=2.2.20-1ubuntu1"

I’m having trouble installing Wine on Ubuntu 21.10 Daily Build or MATE 21.10. It seems there might be an issue with the dependencies. You can check the Ubuntu - WineHQ Wiki for more details, and note that no repository is available for this version yet.
