You're running a Ryzen 7 7800X3D with an Asrock B650M Pro and are considering upgrading to a 7800X3D or moving to a Ryzen 9 series. For 2K gaming at around 100 FPS, the current setup should suffice if you optimize. Upgrading might help, but it depends on your workloads—coding in Visual Studio is less demanding than intense gaming. Assess your usage before deciding.

Checking your GPU and the titles you're running. Are you meeting the required frame rates? If you're already hitting sufficient FPS, upgrading might not be necessary, and if not, confirm whether the bottleneck is on the GPU rather than the CPU.

Thanks for the feedback. I mostly enjoy RPGs, RTS, simulations—think Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, XVI, Cyberpunk, Helldiver 2, Cityskyline, CS:GO, and sometimes Valorant. Coming up next is Monster Hunter Wilds, and I plan to dive into high settings for a few years. I’m looking for a good deal on a CPU upgrade, especially with my current RTX 4080 Super. If Nvidia isn’t too greedy, maybe I’ll upgrade to the 5000 series.

Your GPU looks good too. The CPU cost is reasonable in this market, and the 50-series isn't worth much more than that—it's only a slight improvement at most.

The leap from 7500f to 7800x3d is quite significant. It represents a major improvement in performance.

At the highest settings you can reach up to 1440p or ultra, you’ll maintain around 120 fps in demanding titles. Depending on the game, this number can rise to nearly 200 fps or higher, while dropping to about 100 fps at lower resolutions. Some CPU-heavy games such as CITY SKYLINES fit this profile. With that setup, your main worry should be the CPU performance.

Here are some details on the performance jump from 7500f to 7800x3d. This upgrade typically increases resolution by about 200 pixels per meter in height and width, which can noticeably improve visual clarity and immersion. The jump from 7500 to 7800 is a modest but meaningful step, often cited in benchmarks as enhancing frame rates and reducing aliasing. While exact figures vary, such changes are generally justified by better detail handling and smoother rendering, especially in games that support higher resolutions. Keep in mind that the actual impact depends on your GPU's capabilities and how it handles the new resolution.
