It varies based on the games you enjoy. I’d recommend starting with the GPU upgrade first, your CPU remains solid. Unless you mainly play extremely CPU-intensive titles where a GPU boost wouldn’t help.

Check the CPU if you want 1080p, upgrade the GPU for 4K. 1440p depends on the games and your needs—some benefit more from a better GPU, others need a stronger CPU to get the most from it.

At 1440p resolution, the CPU isn't a major constraint for a Ryzen 5000x. On your 5900X with a 7900XTX in Ultrawide 1440p, performance remains solid.
