I currently own the following parts on my PC, with the exception of a recently added SSD. I've been playing games casually for some time, and it's been quite a while since I upgraded my system. Now, I'm looking to make a major upgrade to support 4K gaming. Your perspective on which components to improve would be greatly appreciated!
Your current setup includes:
CPU: Intel Core i5-7500 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor
Motherboard: MSI B250M PRO-VDH Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard
Memory: Avexir Core Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 1060 6GB 6GB GT OCV1 Video Card
Case: Rosewill Galaxy-03 ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply: SeaSonic S12II 520W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply

6GB isn't enough for 1080p in current games, let alone 4K. What's your budget? You'll likely need at least 16GB of VRAM for 4K (preferably 20-24GB). Your CPU might also require an upgrade. I suggest a Ryzen 7 7800x3d and an RX 7900x.

I recommend starting with an upgrade to a 4k monitor. This will help you better understand the graphics and CPU power requirements at hand. You may find yourself constrained by either the CPU or GPU, possibly both. To enhance your CPU, consider a motherboard upgrade alongside a CPU replacement. A motherboard based on LGA1700 with DDR4 RAM would let you retain your existing RAM. A basic I5-13100 processor would double your threads and compute power. Execute the CPU-Z benchmark on your 7500 to check its single-thread performance, as this is often what games demand most. You should aim for a score around 483. For optimal results, refer to the CPU-Z Validator at valid.x86.fr. The i5-7500 achieves approximately 678 points. If you desire better graphics, a higher-end card would be necessary; otherwise, you might not see the expected improvements. Tom's GPU hierarchy chart can help evaluate your system's capabilities. Recent GPU benchmarks from Nvidia, AMD, and Intel are available on their sites, with rankings provided for various models.

Need an SSD. It will significantly speed up game loading, OS startup, and overall responsiveness.

I think geofelt is right. If you want to maintain your FPS in the games you play, you should consider upgrading your graphics card, power supply, case with better airflow, and installing an SSD. Alternatively, if you prefer buying everything new, that's also fine.
