Hey everyone! I'm planning to switch from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1 soon. My setup is getting slow, so I want a fresh start. I have several hard drives and need to move my Steam games and folders without losing anything. Can you help me figure out if it's possible to transfer the Steam folder safely? Thanks!

Transfer the directory containing your Steam games, then reinstall Steam and set the downloads folder to point at that location.

It functions similarly to iTunes in that context.

I believe this, and Steam scans your entire system for installed games, which means it can locate them easily

You're welcome! Just remember to check if your game supports Linux, as some may have compatibility issues.

You're considering a new PC and facing a choice between Windows 8 and Windows 7. Since you've used Windows 7 and enjoy it, but don’t have much experience with Windows 8, it might be wise to stick with what you know. Also, modern tasks usually require an internet connection.

You can switch to Windows 8.1 by clicking the upgrade button on Windows 7 SP1 or higher. However, you need to run the setup file from your computer; bootable USB isn’t recommended. Once the upgrade completes, the files and installed software from Windows 7 will show up in Windows 8.1.

It's around 8, though there are a few improvements I make. I'd never go back to version 7.

I believe Windows 8.1 offers a more user-friendly experience compared to Windows 8 or 7.
