Upgrade the motherboard alone
Upgrade the motherboard alone
I successfully installed the 5900 chip for my MSI Gaming Edge Wi-Fi, but after reviewing numerous negative reviews—especially from Hardware Unboxed about the poor VRMs—I’m unsure about pairing it with that CPU. I’m considering a board upgrade, but I’m worried about the hassle: removing everything, possibly swapping the motherboard, reinstalling parts, and turning it on. Will I need to reinstall Windows? I’m aware I might have to upgrade to a 3000-series CPU to update the BIOS, which I already own.
Others might suggest it's fine to use Windows with your fresh setup. But I'd advise reinstalling the operating system to prevent compatibility issues.
Reinstalling Windows could erase your SSD contents like games, apps, and other data.
Really, I’d prefer staying with what I have, but I’m worried about potential problems later due to the VRMs.
