Upgrade the CPU from the 2000 series to the 5000 series on an ASRock B450M Pro4 board.
Hello, After my earlier update I aim to upgrade my PC from the Ryzen 5 2600 to the 5600. I might also consider reverting to the 2600 for some testing or using the 5600 on another machine (and returning the 2600 to this one). What will happen if I try to lower the BIOS back to the version that supports the 2600? From what I understand, downgrading BIOSes isn't advisable. But why is that? Isn't it simply rewriting firmware? Curious about the reasons behind it? Thanks!
I wouldn't suggest lowering things without a plan. If you do, be ready for any outcomes. You could also look up others who've changed the allocation and see how they fared. This might avoid some trouble. Instead of moving just the 2600 to another board, consider keeping the 5600 where it fits best with the existing setup.
Ensure your discussions stay focused by avoiding reposting. Keep the conversation going as intended.
Thanks! I'm currently using this PC in an apartment. In a few months, I plan to move to another setup with a better board (B450m Mortar Max). Then I might swap the old CPU for one from ASRock and install the 5600 in the Mortar Max. Disassembling the other board would be quite a challenge.
