Upgrade settings cause games to display black or freeze.
I recently upgraded from a 2600x to a 5600x. I refreshed my BIOS on my MSI B450 Tomahawk and installed the new CPU, and everything started working properly. I used it for a couple of days without any problems. Now I’m experiencing frequent freezes and black screens while gaming. Games sometimes back up the screen or freeze randomly, but they don’t crash outright. This only happens during gameplay. Temperatures remain normal around 55 to 60°C while gaming. I performed a clean NVIDIA driver install and didn’t change any other components after swapping the CPU. The rest of the system is an EVGA 3080 XC3, which functioned well with the 2600x setup, a 850W PSU, and three drives. I’m curious if anyone has encountered this issue or has advice before considering a CPU or GPU swap.
What's the RAM? A screenshot of the RAM looks like it might be the problem. Memory issues can definitely lead to crashes and freezes, though CPU problems are less common unless the system is unstable out of the box.
