Upgrade question
Upgrade question
Hello, I'm using a 1080p setup and thinking about an upgrade. My system is the Case cooler master 690 II advanced, Asus H97 Pro Gamer, with 16gb ram and an i7-1600. My power supply is Corsair RM 750 i, and I have an I74790k with a 4.7 rating. I'm also using an RTX 3070 MSI. I've been searching and considering the RX 460 Ti, but for the CPU I'm unsure because my OS no longer supports Windows 11. I'd like to maintain my Noctua NH D15 cooler and keep the power supply, is that feasible? Thank you.
Power supply Corsair RM 750 i, how long has it been in use and what has it powered during its time in your system? I've been searching and considering the RTX 460 Ti. If that's the case, for this setup I wouldn't replace that card. You might want to upgrade to a newer platform to stay ahead of Windows 11 support. Please tailor your message with the information requested in this discussion; how to Ask for New Build or Upgrade Advice. First, acknowledge the right place for such requests. This adaptation comes from the Animal's *How To Ask For New Build Advice* Sticky. I made it because many people are asking for upgrade guidance here and on CPU forums, and I believe... forums. We can proceed with the suggestions. Mention your location, budget, and preferred buying site.
Hi, thank you for the clarification. I'm from Portugal and usually shop at pcdiga.com. I don't have a fixed budget, but I want to spend as little as possible to play at 1080p on the RTX 4060 Ti. My power supply is from 2015.
I could swap in a PSU that's almost ten years old. Please review the thread I linked and format your current post with the requested details.
You're seeing a price around one thousand euros.

This model runs smoothly at 1080p and even 1440p for certain games.
You won’t notice much loss without compromising performance.
Skipping the NVMe drive could save money, but using an older Corsair PSU is risky if it’s out of warranty.
You might reuse your existing case, though it’s still a solid budget option with fans and USB-C.
RAM under 32GB will quickly disappoint you, so opt for 32GB right away.
The B760 board is typically costly, but its price has dropped recently—previously over 200 euros.
It’s a decent board for upgrades, possibly to a 14700K CPU someday.
This offers a more affordable option, though I must caution you—I don’t like it very much:

It’s a cheaper choice, but you’re investing heavily in a significantly inferior system. Upgrading to a better CPU later would be a waste of money. This machine will handle Windows 11 smoothly and support 1080p gaming, but the low RAM and limited motherboard capabilities make it a mediocre build for most users.
My perspective on it, and you retain the chassis.
You should request Noctua for an LGA1700 kit, they’ll supply it at no cost.

It seems you're asking about the reasoning behind choosing an AsRock H/M.2 motherboard, noting the importance of ordering a LGA1700 kit.
I can't complete everything at once. Should I tackle the GPU first or the CPU motherboard?
