You already own a solid setup with a B350 motherboard, MSI B350M, 16GB DDR4 RAM, and an M.2 NVME SSD. Upgrading your CPU from Ryzen 5 1600 to Ryzen 7 5700X could be worthwhile if you're aiming for better performance, especially since your current CPU is outdated and Windows 11 isn't supported. However, the cost of moving to AM5 or switching to Intel would be significant, possibly making it a tough decision right now. If you're considering a full platform change, the investment might be too high at this stage. It seems a more practical path might be to keep your current hardware and upgrade RAM or SSD instead.

They’re available at around $150 on AliExpress, and they arrive much quicker than the previous 5700x model. Just update the BIOS on your board, and upgrading to a mobile module won’t make sense if you don’t plan a platform switch.

Running a 5800X3D on a Gigabyte B350 motherboard is smooth. No immediate need for upgrades, likely until at least AM6. These X3D chips offer great performance for gaming builds. Proceed with caution when purchasing from third-party sellers—many scams exist. EDIT: Make sure to update the BIOS before installing the new CPU.

The performance gap between 5700x and 5700x3D isn't huge, especially in demanding games like Red Dead Redemption 2 or Cyberpunk. The price difference you mentioned is minimal, around $100. For productivity, sticking with the standard version seems more practical.

It's true, 3D caching works better in multiplayer and FPS games.

Yes, I understand that clearly. In GPU-intensive games, it might not be beneficial to use the x3D solution.

Also consider them. You can improve your GPU whenever you're ready, and it should function fine.

I wouldn't consider upgrading this board... I've been using my 5800X3D without any problems so far... it's one of the few budget options that actually work well. I only added a B550 "wifi" for Bluetooth, but it functions just like the original.

It's also great for emulators. The overall latency is pretty good—CPU definitely adds value, and the AM4 chipset is still solid. The B550 should work just fine too. A dedicated card plus extra RAM? Not necessary, since the B550 performs well on its own.
