Hey everyone, it's great to observe how older hardware handles modern CPUs. I just applied liquid metal to the Intel 8350k and plan to try an overclock next. I'm excited to find out how much performance we can achieve.
Checked previous runs using a 8350k and delid+LM. Air cooling suggests only 5.0 stable with mine. Even 8086k on air gave 5.2. Reaching around 5.5 might require sub-zero temps.
It will feel significantly better than 8700k or 8086k even with just four cores and no hardware acceleration. Edit: I wasn't referring to constant stability, of course.
I adjusted and boosted my 8700K for stable performance only at 5GHz under heat. With the new AIO 3x120 fans, I aim for solid 5GHz even at higher temps. I experimented with 1.44V but faced errors after 40 minutes. Temperatures stayed within 70-80°C. I plan to try 1.46V and maintain core-to-core cache ratios without extra gains. Keeping the cache balanced helps lower voltage, while still pushing performance without overheating.
My 8350k on air achieved 5.0 bench stable, which is sufficient for CPU-Z screenshots. The same went for the 8086k—5.2 stable, enough for a CPU-Z screenshot as well. Bench stable means it could handle benchmark tests. It was quite some time ago, so I don’t remember exactly, but I think the 8350k likely had a 4-core die or maybe a reduced 6-core version. I’m not sure, but it seems like this model is from a lower tier. A single sample doesn’t give a clear picture.
For Asrock the top line is the highest. I’ll also optimize it later. The core and cache are operating at x45, which should stay steady around 1.46 volts. I’ll test OCCT, P95, and Cinebench afterward, keeping an eye on temperatures. My chassis has the side panel closed until everything feels right, then I’ll leave it.
For reference, the Delid method utilized Acetate Cloth Electrical Tape. It functions effectively within a temperature span of 40 to 221 °F (40 to 105 °C).
