Upgrade Intel 2 Gen CPU to 3Gen CPU
Upgrade Intel 2 Gen CPU to 3Gen CPU
Hi everyone, I own an HP650 notbook laptop with an I3 2348M and a Hewlett Packard 1858 motherboard with SandyBridge HM75 and BIOS version F36. I’m trying to upgrade to an Integra I7 3GEN using the same socket IVYBRIDGE. I just watched a YouTube video and saw it works for the same board and Gen 3 CPU. BIOS version F39 sounds like a miracle for me to upgrade this CPU? Thanks for your help!
No need to yell, just let me know the specific model you're asking about.
They might have exchanged the identical laptop using another SKU paired with a different processor or motherboard. Alternatively, they could have removed the entire CPU and installed a new one, or changed the motherboard slot. Simply swapping a CPU isn't possible on a complete desktop setup.
These setups usually included socket CPUs, but the original poster’s machine only supports i3 and i5 models (up to 35 watts) from the 2000 series. The 3000 series uses a different board with an updated BIOS that isn’t available here. That means no i7 either, since the laptop can’t handle the heat or power requirements for it. Upgrading hasn’t worked so far.
Tried reaching out to HP support in North Africa, but no message support available. Only call SEPPORT. In the USA, you can ask them for help with this issue. Please let them know!
Blender works well on that platform if you want quicker rendering. You can use community services to handle tasks your system can't manage. The optimal processor tends to be a 2000 series 35W i5, beyond which performance drops significantly.
