Upgrade I3-370M to I5
Upgrade I3-370M to I5
Hi,
I'm curious about upgrading the existing I3-370M 2.4 GHz processor in the Emachines notebook E732G. Could it be done by removing the chipset and installing an Intel HM55 Express chipset, possibly with an I5 or even an I7? Please note the processor isn't built-in. If feasible, which processor models would fit the board and chipset? Thanks.
Upgrading the CPU on a laptop can be challenging... you must find one with identical architecture and matching power requirements.
Here is the information about your CPU:

These processors fit the socket at http://www.cpu-world.com/Sockets/Socket%...988A).html. Which one do you think is best for upgrading? Should it be I5-480M, I7-620M or I7-640M?
The I7-640M could be a suitable choice for an upgrade depending on your needs.
It's an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 6550M with 1GB DDR3 memory. I believe the graphics performance is strong.
Do you have managed to upgrade your CPU as well? I'm looking for advice on improving my setup.
