You're wondering if upgrading to Windows 10 will work on your new PC or if it's only possible on your current laptop.

Using a laptop could be challenging due to limited driver support. Manufacturers often struggle to offer the latest drivers.

It seems like you're considering a major change in setup. You might imagine moving to a newer version, similar to upgrading from Windows 8 to 8.1. You could install Windows 8 on your desktop and then upgrade to Windows 10, but you'd need to install a fake version of Windows 7 on your laptop. This would require swapping drives or altering data on each system.

I reviewed the free Windows 10 upgrade... placing it directly on my desktop rather than installing it on my PC.

Microsoft is likely planning an update for Windows now to move from Win 8.1/7 to Windows 10. You might face issues with the fake Win7 version, but once Windows 10 is available you can probably download it as well. (Not a good sign, but it exists)

They're not grasping. I'm switching from Windows 8 to Windows 7 and installing the upgrade from my laptop.

Both Windows 7 and 8 (with minor differences) are available for free upgrade to Windows 10. The confusion about a "fake" version likely stems from misunderstandings about licensing or versions.

Sure, I understand. You're referring to the Ultimate edition without an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) license, and you're wondering if it will work with Windows 8. The issue is that your Windows 8 license would need to be upgraded to Windows 10, which means you can't use both versions at the same time.

Absolutely, that was the time everything was brand new. Don't assume they lower prices at big stores like Walmart, Target, or Best Buy.
