Since it's free, cool things are available. Also, if you need your computer to stay up through 2019 (or more), you might miss out on security patches.
If it works fine, leave it alone. I changed two machines from 7 to 10 for my dad—one slowed down a lot and the other needed a full clean install. I’m not doing more upgrades. Running Windows 8.1 with Classic Shell is the best choice.
Updated both the desktop and laptop without significant problems. The only hiccups were driver crashes following the initial Windows 10 release. Everything else functions smoothly. I believe my laptop runs more efficiently, and the desktop performance feels noticeably better—desktop is already quite fast.
your laptop with a recovery partition set to default configurations will return to the original OS when restored to factory mode, even after an upgrade. you can revert whenever needed. I prefer the upgrade options on the 7th, they work better for me.
I upgraded from 7 to 10 and it really messed things up. I ended up resetting everything, but now it works fine, though I can’t go back to Windows 7 anymore. It was mostly due to driver issues.
I improved 8.1 to 10 on two gaming machines, it works perfectly, go for it!
