Hello everyone. I’m planning an upgrade for my 1700X, as it’s causing some performance issues with my 2070 Super FTW3. It’s a bit overwhelming since I use two different systems. My first setup is a Windows 10 gaming rig that runs the main focus of this article. The second is a Linux desktop used for learning and everyday tasks. There’s also a theoretical next-gen configuration in mind. Below are the specifications.

I enjoy a variety of games depending on the system specs. For performance, I’d prefer a Ryzen 5000 or a 3700X, but only if it fits my needs. If the setup already supports powerful hardware, I’ll stick with what works best without overcomplicating things.

I’m beginning to start streaming now. Recently I’ve been playing several titles like AC:Valhalla, CyberPunk 2077, Horizon ZD, and The Outer Worlds—all of which I planned to stream and discuss, but I just couldn’t make it happen. I also have older games such as Deux Ex, Fallout 4, and Witcher 3 that I’d like to record in a documentary style, though I struggle with stable recordings because the frame rate fluctuates whenever I try. Right now I’m streaming at 1920x1080, but I barely reach a consistent 60 FPS on my 1700X. For smoother performance, I’d need a higher resolution and a better processor. I anticipate needing a more powerful GPU in the future, but that’s not part of this discussion right now. In the meantime, I’ll probably buy two chips so I can flash the new motherboard before installing a 5000 series chip. (I’m sure there are options that let you flash without a chip and boards with built-in support for 5000 series, but I want this one.) The main question is whether a 3700X will be worth it or if I should invest more.
