I have a ProDesk 405 G6 Mini that came with a Ryzen 3 Pro 3200GE. I want to upgrade it to a Ryzen 7 Pro 4750GE, but it will not boot correctly. The power light is on, the fan is spinning normally, but I get no display output and when I try to open the BIOS to see if it's working correctly I don't get a loud beep from the computer which happens every time it opens the BIOS. The CPU is tested working and when I switch back to Pro 3200GE, the system works fine. I'm on the latest BIOS and the manual says the system supports this CPU. Also, it's nothing to do with the OS, since I tested it both on Windows and Linux. So far I've tried different ram, amount of ram sticks, I've done CMOS resets, I've tried different display ports (DP and HDMI), I can't find anything on board revisions, I don't see any options for iGPU in the BIOS or any graphics options, I tried switching the CPU with the previous BIOS and the most recent, and I've gone through support, and they just say they don't offer any hardware support. I'm really hoping someone else has a solution. Link to my original Support Forum on HP Link to ProDesk 405 G6 Mini Software and Drivers Currently Running NixOS x64 with old CPU installed. Tested with the previous BIOS and the current BIOS. The system is currently running BIOS 02.17.00 (latest). Works with Ryzen 3 Pro 3200GE, but trying to get Ryzen 7 Pro 4750GE to work (unsuccessfully). Currently running Crucial RAM, 64GB Kit (2x32GB) DDR4 3200MHz CL22. Tested with both this kit and the original 8GB 3200 RAM stick it shipped with. Running with a Kingston 1TB M.2 SSD Boot Drive. No PSU and Running integrated graphics.

There seems to be limited CPU compatibility in these mini PCs, with few supported processors available. The Lenovo m715q is restricted to around five CPUs from the many AM4 options.

It is noted as a compatible CPU in the guide, and I think it can be upgraded.

The document lists two BIOS files available for download. Each one is compatible with distinct CPU versions.

Thanks! This looks really promising. I'll let you know once it's all set up.

Just in case, after the update you won't be able to use your previous CPU and you can't go back to a lower version.

You're facing difficulties installing the BIOS from your USB drive. The system seems to be detecting a different version (02.17.00) even though you're using 02.16.00. Your USB is formatted as FAT32 with just the .bin file, and you're trying to update the BIOS by installing it alongside your existing CPU. The process appears to be proceeding with the newer version, but you're still encountering issues.

There could be two versions of your motherboard, S25 being a 16MB file and S27 a 32MB. If you choose incorrectly, it might be very difficult to restore a functional computer.

I explored some options and found a few possibilities for the motherboard. It’s not ideal, but I’m trying to find a way. Your advice was really helpful and clear. I’ll stay here until I secure the board or decide otherwise, but I’ll remember this as the answer when it’s found!
