Hi everyone. My nephew had a PC without an SSD, so I bought a $25 team group 512GB SSD during Black Friday and installed it. Previously, I used Marcium Reflect to clone the boot drive to the new SSD and rebooted. I kept encountering “error 0 clone failed” with that tool. I’ve never had problems doing this on several laptops or during upgrades. Do you have other methods I should try? Should I adjust any settings in Marcium Reflect for the cloning process? It seems related to system files. Thanks for your help.

Verify the HDD for any issues before proceeding. It might be best to install a fresh system and back up essential data afterward.

I always choose a fresh Windows setup for new devices. It removes unnecessary components. Make sure to install every required driver.

You should look for error messages on the drive. Since he’s disabled and fatigued, a fresh install might not be feasible. If he can’t do cloning, you may need to rely on an HDD. You could set up two boot options so he can pick one when needed.

I use AOMEI Partition Assistant (FREE Version) and it works great. It will do everything that you need as described above. It can check for errors, it can partition, It can clone, it can copy, and much more and that is the free version. There is also a portable version that you can run from a flashdrive. Check it out at the link below. https://www.diskpart.com/free-partition-manager.html
