The 6800 offers only modest improvements over the 2080 Super. Consider models with better specs like the 6900XT for noticeable gains. If you spot a budget-friendly 5700X or 5800X, it could help. The 5600 still performs well for gaming, so a fresh Windows installation with current drivers might suffice. Over time, Windows updates can affect performance. Your hardware isn’t outdated, but aging components do matter. A small lag here and there adds up. I recommend comparing the 6800 to the 2080 Super and checking benchmarks like 5600 vs 5700X3D/5700X. Watch YouTube for side-by-side tests. It’s a tricky situation, isn’t it?

Since... The player owns a 2080 Super. Although the 6800 runs faster than the 2080S, it doesn't make sense to upgrade. You claimed his gaming performance would skyrocket, but it won't happen.

That's correct, I revised the post before your reply since I saw it as 2080.

I’m facing a very similar scenario you’re in. My solution has been adjusting the internal render resolution or pushing more into FSR/DLSS performance settings, which helps ease the strain on my system when playing newer titles. Right now I’m using a 5600X, a 3060Ti with 8GB RAM, and a 1440p display. Eventually, this setup will definitely become a good time to consider upgrades.

Considering an 8-core, 16-thread CPU might improve performance, but have you checked if you've optimized your game's settings? Also, what are your RAM's speed and timings?
