I believe I now understand the situation better after reviewing what Shimejii mentioned. This gives me a clearer picture of how it's categorized and functions. I'm choosing the 5800X3D for that reason. It also helped me avoid spending more than $100 by backing down from the 7800X3D. Thanks again.

I’d like to follow your advice, but it would require upgrading my motherboard and also my RAM. Unfortunately, the boss has told us we don’t have the funds for that. As a disabled veteran, my only income comes from my veterans pension and social security, which I rely on because of my age. I’m 68 now and will be 69 in October. I’m hoping next year I might be able to afford the full upgrade, but for now it has to wait. Thank you for your response—I really appreciate it. Take care and good luck.
