they used two versions—one with 11,400 and another with 12,600. One model ran on 8,000 but everyone had intel with much faster clocks, from 4.4 to 4.9, whereas I'm stuck at 4.0 tops.

The 3600 performs better than every 8000 series CPU when both are at stock settings. Clock speed isn't the only factor—it's more about how quickly the processor operates rather than just numbers. This metric doesn't compare directly across different generations or brands, and it can vary within the same generation. You might boost your 3600's performance by turning on power management mode if cooling is available.

They managed to maintain better and more consistent frame rates using Intel options in that game. I could adjust settings up to 3600 for a slight improvement, though each attempt ended in crashes. My maximum stable performance was around 4.2 frames per second.

Vcore static 1.3-1.4v when temps stay below 90°C (Freq static 4.2-4.5; higher end usually better samples + good cooling). Could be your CPU is just a decent clocker or it might be as average as most 3600s at operating temperature.

Techpowerup's 720p evaluation shows roughly a 28% improvement over 5600x versus 3600x in their latest 5700x review from late July. The gap between 5700x and 5600x is still small now, but I think 5700x could close the difference slightly later, especially when playing AAA titles on consoles with 8C/16T processors. I’d still prefer the 5600x at $170 versus the 5700X at $270, though.

I attempted everything a few years back when I got the CPU. The team here assisted with the Vcore configurations, but it was mostly around 4.2. It ran smoothly on Windows and experienced high temperatures at the time. Now it seems better cooling could help reach 4.2, though gaming performance hasn't shown a clear improvement.

What matters to me is the content quality, not the resolution numbers. I'm using a 3440x1440p display.

It really does count when your CPU is limited in that game. A 5600x would need roughly a 25% boost in single-core speed compared to a 3600, according to Passmark ratings.

That's accurate, perhaps slightly right. I was reviewing video test results for 1440p and 4K resolutions and saw minimal variation even when using a 3080 Ti.

Because the game relies heavily on the CPU, the GPU becomes irrelevant if the CPU can't supply the necessary data. This is why low-resolution tests are performed to evaluate CPU performance. It indicates the GPU can handle less load while the CPU pushes maximum frames, often resulting in high FPS in visually demanding games at lower settings like 720p.
