Hello. I'm using a B550 Tomahawk motherboard with a 3600 MHz ATX setup. I'm facing some issues in one game where a CPU upgrade didn't improve performance much, even though people with higher clocked CPUs reported better results (the game is about 7 days to die). I looked around the local market and think I could sell my 3600 for roughly $60 to $80. A new 5600 would be around $170 to $180, which seems reasonable. I'm considering upgrading to a 7000 series but it would require changing the motherboard as well. I was thinking about the 5800 or newer models, but I'm not sure if they're worth the investment given the price and whether my current board will support them.

Wait for the 7000 release before looking at the 5000 discount. Once that happens, you can purchase a 5700x—though I wouldn't go beyond it due to the motherboard limitations, but if I'm investing that much for an upgrade, I'd prefer a complete overhaul.

The question is whether the effort is worthwhile. I looked at some gaming comparison videos. Since my resolution is nearer to 4K than 1080p, the change is minimal—just a slight drop in frames per second.

Remember, the 7-day limit is poorly optimized and was originally designed for 60 fps. Boosting the CPU for that game doesn’t really add much value.

I understand, but from talking to folks on Discord I saw that players with better CPUs tended to have more consistent frame rates, while my performance would sometimes drop significantly—from around 120 to just 20 or 30—which rarely happens to others during simple games.

5700X came out later than the 5800X.

Yeah, I noticed it too—there aren’t many videos on YouTube about it, most just show around 5600 or 5800 views.
