Hi, everyone.
I currently have a 5600x32g ram 3600 and a 6700xt with 12gb of VRAM. After the latest upgrade from Premieres, my system felt a bit slower. What would you recommend?
1. Switch CPU to 9900x while keeping the 6700xt;
2. Upgrade both CPU to 5900xt and GPU to a 7900xtx;
Or stick with:
3. Keep the CPU and upgrade the GPU to the 7900xtx.
I mainly use it for premieres, editing in 4k slow mode 8bit, and for obs in Lives. Occasionally I play games in 4k.
Thanks!

My setup includes a Ryzen 5600X. The cooling system failed, so I plan to install a custom watercooler. I’m using a MOBO B550 Plus Asus with 4x8 3600 DDR4 RAM, three SSDs (one 7500x7000), a 6700XT, an XPG Core reactor 850, and a Sharkoon Pure Steel chassis. The power supply is two years old, and I don’t know the BIOS version. It’s a goos system, so upgrading to a Ryzen 5900X with a 7900X could be beneficial, especially paired with an ASUS B650 TUF and 2x32GB 5600 RAM while keeping the RX 6700XT. I mainly play games like Valorant and Assassin’s Creed in 4K, and I’m okay with that. I’m more focused on editing than gaming. I have a budget for both upgrades, but living in Brazil makes it expensive. Some people say it’s not worth going from the 5600X to the 5900X. Both CPU and GPU matter a lot here. My aim is a smooth experience with the timeline, rather than just high rendering performance. What should we consider? Thanks a bunch.

First of all, I am no expert on Premiere pro.
But, the folks at Puget systems are.
Here are their thoughts on hardware for premiere pro:
Hardware Recommendations
Our workstations for Adobe Premiere Pro are tested and optimized to give you the best performance and reliability. View our hardware recommendations.
www.pugetsystems.com
If you read through it, the recommendations are somewhat different from what you are thinking.
For example, the very top processors included threadripper processors and i9-14900K but not the newest 5900x or 9900X.
The Quick sync capability of non F suffix processors are of value.
I do not have the date of this article, it might be a few years old.
It is not clear, but it looks like Nvidia cards do better.
Do you have a budget?
Your case is seriously deficient in airflow.
That is something I do know something about.
Two 120mm intake fans is not going to seriously cool anything.
liquid cooling or air cooling needs airflow
A 240 aio or custom loop has about the same cooling capability as a good twin tower air cooler.
I suspect you will want much more than 32gb of ram.

I've already read this article; it's really good but quite outdated. A Ryzen 9900X would perform well—I don't have much heavy editing work. Perhaps upgrade the processor first, then consider the graphics card—since the RX 6700XT is a solid choice. Regarding the case, my current setup (without the dead water cooler) uses the weaker fans I previously installed, the one for the 240 water cooler, and the MOBO fan which also expels hot air. Should I think about changing it?

My usual choice would be 5700x3d for gaming, but considering other tasks, 5900xt looks reasonable, together with 7900xtx, making it the simplest pick. Another possibility could be to use your existing RAM and get a 12th gen i7 with a Z690/Z790 board. I’m still not sure if Intel’s updates for the 13th and 14th generations have resolved their problems.
