Game: BF2042 configurations: ultra DLS quality display 1440p ultra wide (3440x1440) at 175hz. It was the first one I reviewed when it launched, before they released the cheaper 165hz version with lower FPS (from the in-game console): roughly 209 CPU FPS and about 150 GPU FPS. Context: I’m aiming for extremely high frame rates—so much so that anything below 100 FPS feels rough and makes it impossible to play. In 2018 I had 144Hz, then 240Hz in 2020, moved to 360Hz, and finally got the AW3423DW G-Sync Ultimate at 175Hz. It took some time getting used to the lower refresh rate. Now I’m very responsive to frame rates; recently I swapped my 3080Ti FE for a 4080 because I needed to keep my low FPS above 100 to maintain smooth gameplay.
Ok, with some further reading - fuck AMD and their 10000 versions. 2042 fas some 'future frame rendering" and abuses CPUs. In some games, x3D is much better, while in others they are the same. And fuck whoever was the first one to make the '90 series a reference card for gaming benchmarks. 3D is better, but not 300$ better.
