the laptop belongs to my friend, and he wanted me to switch it to windows 10. but when checking acer's site, his machine wasn't listed as eligible for upgrades. can I still upgrade it? or should I explore other options? any ideas would be appreciated. thank you.

You're welcome. It simply indicates Acer may lack drivers for this device. However, since it functions with version 7, it's likely to work with 10 as well. If you see the Windows 10 icon in your taskbar notifications, click it and proceed with the steps.

The laptop requires a processor with 1GHz or faster, at least 1GB of RAM for 32-bit systems and 2GB for 64-bit or higher configurations. It needs a hard drive of 20-30GB or larger, a DirectX 9+ support, and a display with 800x600 resolution or better.
