Upgrade? - Acer Predator Helios 300 (PH317-55)
I've conducted some basic research
I discovered a page where you can view the specifications of this laptop, including its internal details. I'm not very familiar with this topic, so my question is here:
As you can see on that site, it states:
"HDD/SSD up to 2000GB SSD + up to 1000GB HDD"
What does that mean? Does it imply I can only use a 1TB HDD and a 2TB SSD?
I'm considering upgrading to either a 2TB HDD or a 1TB SSD, focusing on gaming or general use storage, and would you have any suggestions?
Also, regarding saving for NVMe storage since it has an extra slot, M.2 Slot 2x 2280 M.2 NVMe slots...
By the way, what types of M.2 drives are compatible with this laptop? I’d like to save space but want to reach 4TB M.2."
The 1000GB HDD would equate to a 1TB hard disk drive. You could still fit a 2TB HDD inside your laptop. Choosing a 2.5" SSD would allow you to install an even larger capacity SSD in the laptop. The NVMe port can also accommodate a 2TB or greater SSD. The details provided are those included with the laptop during assembly.

Sure, let's see how that would work. Would a 2.5 SSD with NVMe support be acceptable? For instance, using a 4TB SSD for a 2.5 TB drive would that function properly? Yes, it should.
For the Samsung option, a Crucial 4TB SSD with at least 2TB NVMe would work. The 970 model is also an option. Other possibilities include the Crucial 2TB or the Crucial 4TB, or the WD Black 2TB. If these storage modules are compatible, pairing a 870 4TB SSD with a Samsung unit could be viable. I think it's worth saving and purchasing that.
