Updating Windows on a laptop with a new SSD without using a CD drive
Hello everyone, I own a Dell Latitude E6410 laptop and am planning an upgrade to an SSD. As mentioned in the title, I want to reinstall Windows—ideally all data from my old Seagate HDD—onto the new SSD. I don’t have any installation media like CD or USB, so I’m unsure if I need to connect both drives at once or just back up everything first before transferring. Essentially, I’d just need an OS and a file transfer to another drive (which can’t be used simultaneously), and I only have a product key for installation, which means I’ll still have to move data later. Thanks for your assistance, Dedede.
You could perform cloning or migration on another PC. Because both drives must be connected simultaneously for any such operation. The main concern is whether you can use a USB drive for installation. Current prices for 8GB USB 2 drives are quite affordable.
