Are you on a fast 2MB/s connection? You can choose a metered setting and let Windows handle updates without reinstalling. Updates won’t auto-download until you enable it. To do this, press the Settings Network & Internet button, then click "Advanced Options," select "Set connection as Metered."

It's mainly about the response time I need to be under 50 milliseconds.

Solution: Return to Windows 7, then upgrade to Win 7 Pro or Ultimate for lower costs. Once you reach that stage, switch back to Windows 10, as it provides the Pro edition which allows you to manage updates. I owned a Win 7 HP and purchased a $13 Win 8 Pro key just before the Windows 10 launch specifically for this purpose.

It seems the Windows update will consume a lot of CPU resources. That’s not ideal. It works well on my i7 without exceeding 10%.

A lower ping value indicates better performance, not the reverse.

Absolutely, just checking things but honestly I'm pretty tipsy. Errors occur.

This applies only to 10 pro users, not all home users.

I don’t want to be limited in choosing which updates to apply, and I’m concerned about automatic driver changes.
