I'm working on upgrading or rebuilding the prebuilt PC I've owned recently. I'm seeking guidance on reinstalling Windows 7, with more details available here: http://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/comment..._with_new/. Even though some helpful tips about choosing a motherboard were shared, they couldn't fully address whether my new board and CPU would restore the system restore feature that was available on the older model.

The restore is saved on a separate HDD partition, not on the motherboard, so you might still access it, though the drivers won’t function properly.

You can reach it by using a method that wasn't available before—something built directly into the BIOS settings.

if i kept using an already-made PC, i’d need to press and hold the return key while the system started to access the OS boot menu and then go to “System restore.”

It might be worth trying, but if it doesn’t succeed or you can’t figure it out, I’ll return in a few days with more ideas. If it works, I’ll likely forget about it and get caught up in using it. Thanks for your help.
