Updating the motherboard BIOS might affect performance depending on the changes made.
I aim to upgrade my motherboard BIOS to fit a 5th generation Ryzen CPU. I intend to install a Ryzen 7 5700X, which is the most affordable option and offers the best speed (though I initially considered the 5900X, which costs nearly double but provides only marginal gains). Will updating my BIOS affect performance or features? I’m already updated, but I’ve seen some reports suggesting possible losses. Some sources recommend opting for a new motherboard instead of a BIOS upgrade for the 5th generation. Here’s what my current setup looks like: Ryzen 5 3600XT, B450 AORUS Elite V2, 4x 8GB RAM at 3200MHz, HyperX Fury Ventus GTX 1660ti OC with dual fans, 1x 120GB Kingston SSD, 1x 480GB Crucial SSD, 1x 2TB ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro, 2x 1TB HDDs (Seasonic SS-620GM, 620W), and Windows 10.
Performance might drop if the BIOS isn't optimized for the specific part you're installing. Everything seems okay otherwise, but compatibility can affect results.
Upgrading now. All functions are operating normally, the latest BIOS supports the new CPU on this board. That’s the only update. End reading.
