Hi guys, I'm replacing my 7950X to the new 7950X3D I'm getting tomorrow. (I am lucky enough to still be able to return the 7950X and I've got an amazing deal on the 3D, so, here we go) I have a quite powerful RIG, (Asus Strix X670E-E, GeForce 4090, 32GB DDR5 6000MHz CL30, Samsung 990Pro) all watercooled with Corsair Hi170 AIO 420mm For those interested here my RIG and the installation: Since I still have my 7950X I can easily run some specific benchmarks to see exactly the difference from the 7950X to the 3D variant. Any raccomandation to what can I test before switching and after? I accept suggestions and I will be posting the results in this thread. Thanks!

In testing, the previous version should likely perform better because 3D CPUs are being throttled to manage heat. As expected, 3D cache works more efficiently in games or memory-intensive applications.

I mainly use it for gaming, though when I mentioned bench I meant gaming in general.

I upgraded from a 5800x3D to the 7950x3D and completed the change yesterday. Wendel's video about processor affinity will help me fine-tune CCD placement together with the 'prefer cache' setting in the firmware. Up to now I've noticed 5.25GHz multicore performance on CCD0 and 5.55GHz on CCD1. Cinebench R23 scored around 35k and should stabilize at 4.7GHz across all cores. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 benchmark from AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D, Gigabyte X670E AORUS MASTER (3dmark.com) only ran once with my usual settings—no standout results, but it gives a baseline for comparison. So far I've tested mainly Warframe with different thread/CCD arrangements using processor affinity.

I'm interested in checking the boost clocks, and I'll make sure to save a screenshot of my HWinfo when I get back after testing. What I said is correct for 2-4 cores per CCD. The boost clocks are really impressive, and it's easy to keep things at around 152W across all cores so far.

CCD0 at 5.46GHz and CCD1 reaching at least 5.7GHz shows strong performance. This improved from around 5.25GHz and 6GHz prior to the -10 curve optimizer setup. I prefer more than 200MHz on CCD0 compared to CCD1, and it stays within manageable thermal limits.
