Updating or resetting your operating system.
Hello. I chose to reinstall Windows on my PC. I have Windows and several apps on my SSD (82GB free of 237GB) along with a lot of data, games, and programs on my HDD (151GB free of 931GB). If I disconnect the HDD during the fresh installation, will everything function properly once I reinstall Windows again? Are there any additional details I should be aware of? I'm doing this because GTA5 stopped working since April. By the way, I used a method to move my user folders (documents, photos, etc.) to the HDD.
Perform a few adjustments together. Save every software directory in /users/Documents and /Users/AppData/Roaming. Also keep C:/ProgramData. These locations will be preserved during the install if you opt to save previous versions. Once you reinstall, reinsert the files and place them correctly. This may help some programs function properly. Not all will appear in the start menu or the uninstall list since they aren't fully installed there. For games hosted on central services like Steam and Origin, simply reinstall the client and redirect it to your game servers. Certain elements might still fail due to lingering registry changes, requiring a full reinstall. However, you can still transfer configuration files.
