Hi there. You just moved from an Intel processor to an AMD one, so you’ll need to reinstall Windows. Make sure you get the latest product key for your new system. A complete reinstall means wiping everything and starting fresh, which is common when switching platforms. Follow the official Windows installation steps carefully to avoid problems.

Windows handles most updates smoothly. You can reset directly inside Windows. The MS website offers a media creation utility; you can save it as an ISO file, burn it to a disc, or use a USB drive. These options typically let you: upgrade the operating system (such as from Windows 10 to 11), perform a fresh installation (ideal when booting from it), or install new software in place while preserving your existing apps and files. Before turning off your computer, it’s wise to back up any critical data. Are you linked to an MS account? What type of device is it—custom or OEM?

Purchased the computer ready-made to ensure an OEM key. Would reinstalling affect performance, or would it make no difference?

You must restart Windows using a fresh key if you used an OEM one, even after linking it to a Microsoft account.

Then, just to confirm. I think I'll keep my existing setup and simply replace it to test the outcome. I'll back up my data first, but I'm hoping Windows will resolve any problems during the updates. Cheers!
