No, the I7-8700K needs a different type of motherboard. It requires an LGA1151 300 series board such as the Z370. None of the newer 300 series boards are compatible with older processors. Previous models need a 100 or 200 series LGA1151 board like the Z270 that I mentioned earlier. Therefore, you'd have to switch again to upgrade from the I7-6700K to the I7-8700K.
