I purchased a new memory module for the HyperX 8GB DDR4 2666MHz to pair with the existing Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR4 2666MHz setup. However, when inserting it into the alternate memory slot, the combined speed dropped from 2666MHz to 2133MHz. Could you assist me? My current configuration includes an i5 8400, MSI Z370-A Pro, and the new modules. I also have a GTX 1060 with 6GB RAM. Thanks in advance.

Have you enabled XMP? If yes and it works, can you open CPU-Z and list the specifications for each module? Also, keep in mind to clean your CPU cooler.
