I'm changing my CPU for my gaming PC. I'm not sure how old the Ryzen platform is and need some guidance. My setup has a B450 Tomahawk M.S.I. board with a Ryzen 7 2700. I found a Ryzen 5 3600 at a good price online. People say you don't have to change the motherboard for the CPU swap, but you should update the BIOS to a newer version. Should I download the BIOS from the internet and flash it via USB, or can I get it through the BIOS itself? Need some help with my limited knowledge of the Ryzen system.

Well, your Asus board supports updating BIOS via the web. Navigate to the BIOS update section and check if the option exists. Your manual should list available choices. Are you currently running BIOS version compatible with Ryzen 3000 Version 7C02v19? I still suggest installing the newest version for AMD Agesa updates, which enhance performance and improve CPU cooling. What I found in the manual is useful for online updates. Before proceeding, ensure the LAN driver is installed and your internet connection is stable. To update BIOS using Live Update 6: First, install and open MSI LIVE UPDATE 6. Then select BIOS Update, click the Scan button, choose the Download icon to fetch the latest BIOS file, select Windows mode, proceed to Next and start the process. Once the flashing is finished, the system will restart automatically.
